Ombré brows use a soft shading technique to create a powdery, defined finish — lighter at the front, darker through the arch and tail. Nano brows use a fine machine to place individual hair strokes that mimic real brow hairs for an ultra-natural look. Combination brows blend both: hair strokes at the front with shading through the arch. During your consultation, we'll look at your skin type, lifestyle, and the look you love to find the right fit.
Yes — ombré and combination brows work beautifully on oily skin. Oily skin can cause hair-stroke techniques like old-style microblading to blur over time, which is why Brow Social uses nano brows rather than microblading. The machine technique holds far better on most skin types, including oily.
No — Brow Social uses nano brows instead of microblading. Nano brows are performed with a fine tattoo machine rather than a blade, which means less trauma to the skin, more consistent pigment deposit, and better longevity across different skin types. The results are equally natural — often more so.
Cosmetic brow tattooing is semi-permanent and typically lasts 1 to 3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and sun exposure. Oilier skin and more sun exposure will fade the pigment faster. A colour refresh appointment every 12 to 18 months is a simple way to keep your brows looking fresh.
Most clients describe the sensation as light scratching — noticeable but very manageable. A topical numbing cream is applied before we begin and reapplied as needed throughout the appointment. The vast majority of clients are surprised by how comfortable the process is.
Come with clean brows — no tinted moisturiser, brow makeup, or SPF on the brow area. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand as it can affect how the skin responds. Eat something before you arrive. If you've had any recent skin treatments in the brow area (peels, laser, injectables), let us know when booking.
Absolutely — please do. Reference photos are one of the best ways to communicate the shape, density, and finish you have in mind. Bring 2 to 3 images that show different aspects of what you love: one for shape, one for finish, one for colour if they're different.
Previous brow tattoos don't necessarily prevent you from getting new work done, but it depends on the colour, placement, and condition of the existing pigment. Please mention this when booking and send a photo if possible so we can advise before your appointment. In some cases, Brow Social's non-laser brow tattoo removal service can be used to lighten previous work first.
In the first 1 to 2 days, your brows will look darker and more intense than the final result — this is completely normal. Over days 3 to 7, they'll soften, lighten, and may look patchy as the skin heals. By 4 to 6 weeks, the true healed colour settles in. Follow the aftercare instructions provided and avoid getting the brows wet for the first 7 to 10 days.
Your first touch-up is $50. Usually we book in your touch up around 6 weeks after your first appointment. This is where we assess how the pigment has settled in your skin and make any refinements — adjusting colour, filling any gaps, or refining the shape. It's a normal part of the process, not a sign anything went wrong.
Avoid applying any makeup over the brow area for the first 7days while the skin heals. After that, you're free to wear makeup as normal. Most clients find they barely reach for their brow pencil anymore.
